A fantastic half day trip to see the SS Richard Montgomery Wreck.
The SS Richard Montgomery is an American Liberty ship, sunk in the River Thames Estuary in 1944 carrying about 1,400 tons of explosives!
The trip starts at Chatham Maritime Marina and follows the meandering River Medway out to the Thames Estuary. We pass a number of Defence Forts such as Hoo and Darnett Ness en route and are able to take in the extensive wildlife of this wetland.
Once we’ve explored the Montgomery, we’re off to Queenborough Harbour for light refreshments, returning to Chatham later.
The trip takes about 3 to 4 hours
